Two carmakers announced recalls this week, Stellantis for Ram pickups, and Subaru for Ascents.

Stellantis is recalling more than 131,000 Ram 1500 trucks made in 2021 over a powertrain software problem, according to the National Highway Safety Administration.

The software issue could lead to stalling resulting from a faulty fuel mix, which Ram dealers will fix with a software update.

Meanwhile, Subaru recalled more than 4,000 2023 Ascent sports-utility vehicles over a wheel-mounting issue that may have led to tire damage, Kelley Blue Book said.

A misaligned assembly machine may have damaged tires’ internally, potentially leading to blowouts, KBB indicated. It said Subaru has gotten 10 complaints from Ascent owners but that no accidents or injuries have happened as a result.

Subaru dealers will replace all four Ascent tires with new ones, KBB said.

Recall repairs are done free of charge.
