DOWC Cares has chosen two new recipients for a Fix It Forward Giveaway, a community initiative that covers critical vehicle repairs for people facing unexpected hardships.

Smythe Volvo in Summit, N.J., nominated customer Barbara for an engine replacement, while Fiesta Hyundai of Santa Fe, N.M., nominated customer Herman after multiple mechanical failures left him without reliable transportation.

Customer Gets Engine Replacement

Earlier this year, Barbara purchased a used 2014 Volvo S60, expecting dependable transportation. When the engine failed just months later, the repair expense created a significant hardship.

Barbara returned to Smythe Volvo seeking guidance, and the dealership nominated her for the Fix It Forward Giveaway based on the urgency of her need, the financial strain caused by the unexpected repair, and the impact a functioning vehicle would have on her daily stability.

Through DOWC Cares, Barbara’s engine replacement will be covered.

Man Helped After Highway Breakdown

Fiesta Hyundai of Santa Fe nominated customer Herman for Fix It Forward after his vehicle shut down on the highway and suffered multiple mechanical failures. Without reliable transportation—and with his primary work vehicle also in disrepair—Herman faced a choice between essential living expenses and urgent repairs.

With support from Fix It Forward, Fiesta Hyundai will complete the necessary repairs to help Herman regain dependable transportation so he can return to work and support his family.
