A California carwash is taking clean cars to a scary dimension.

Big Wave Car Wash offered an immersive and interactive “Haunted Car Wash” to those who dared at locations in Anaheim in Orange County and Lakewood in Los Angeles County.

The carwash provider’s website indicated it was entertaining requests to bring the disturbing experience to other carwashes. It apparently hires people to fill the roles of the service’s “Scare Team” via application.

Drivers could suscept themselves to the carwash of their nightmares starting at $30 a car, though certain vehicles were prohibited, including mud-caked ones and motorcycles.

“As you slowly drive through, sinister performers will leap from the shadows, and spine-tingling special effects will envelop you in an atmosphere of sheer horror,” the site said. “With bone-chilling surprises lurking around every corner, this is a Halloween experience designed to keep you on edge.”

The scary carwashes, now in their fifth year, ran on selected evenings through All Hallows’ Eve. The company warned consumers that the terrifying event would sell out fast.
