Ford recalled more than 240,000 SUVs due to the potential for seat belt failure.

The 2020 and 2021 Explorers and Aviators may have one or more unsecured seat belts due to supplier seat production work done outside of standard operating procedures.

The seat belts may have inadequately secured anchor bolts and may therefore fail to secure occupants, according to documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Ford had gotten a handful of warranty claims and a complaint about the problem but said it’s received no reports of injury related to the issue.

The Detroit-area automaker will conduct inspections on recalled vehicles and replace any affected seating components. It’s scheduled to mail recall notices to owners on March 31.

Owners who’ve already had repairs done may be eligible for reimbursement.
